Tip Calculator

A tip calculator helps you quickly determine how much to tip at restaurants, cafes, or for services. It calculates the tip amount based on your bill and chosen percentage, shows the total amount to pay, and can split the bill among multiple people. This eliminates mental math and ensures fair tipping.

How to Use the Tip Calculator

Step 1: Enter Bill Amount. Input the total bill amount before tip (in dollars).

Step 2: Rate the Service (Optional) Click on the stars to rate your service experience:

• ⭐ (1 star) = Poor service → Suggests 10% tip
• ⭐⭐ (2 stars) = Below average → Suggests 10% tip
• ⭐⭐⭐ (3 stars) = Average service → Suggests 15% tip
• ⭐⭐⭐⭐ (4 stars) = Good service → Suggests 18% tip
• ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5 stars) = Excellent service → Suggests 20% tip

The calculator will automatically suggest a tip percentage based on your rating!

Step 3: Select Tip Percentage. Choose from the preset options:

• 10% – Basic service
• 15% – Standard good service
• 18% – Good service
• 20% – Great service
• 25% – Exceptional service
• Custom – Enter your own percentage

Step 4: Split the Bill (Optional) Enter the number of people sharing the bill. Leave it as “1” if you’re paying alone.

Step 5: Calculate. Click “Calculate” to see:

• Total amount (bill + tip)
• Tip amount
• If splitting: Amount per person and tip per person

Clear Button Click “Clear” to reset all fields and start a new calculation.

Example:

Scenario: $85 dinner bill, excellent service, splitting with 3 friends

1. Enter: Bill = $85
2. Rate: 5 stars (suggests 20%)
3. Select: 20%
4. Split: 3 people
5. Click Calculate

Result: Total = $102, Tip = $17, Each person pays $34!
